Map of Palo Alto's Duveneck Neighborhood

Duveneck Neighborhood - Palo Alto

The standard real estate map boundaries include what would best be described as three different neighborhoods. The area to the northwest of Embarcadero is near Duveneck Elementary School. This area is mostly comprised of homes with nearly flat roofs which were built in the 1950's. With only a single busy road, Channing, passing through the area, it provides a nice neighborhood for children. a small shopping center is at the corner of Embarcadero and highway 101 and is within easy walking distance of most of the homes.

The area to the southeast of Embarcadero and to the north east of Louis, includes homes from two different building developments plus a few fairly old small homes. The nearest shopping is at the corner of Embarcadero and highway 101 and is within easy walking distance. Many of the residents go slightly further to the Midtown Shopping Center at the corner of Middlefield and Colorado. Originally Louis Road was settled by people wanting to raise vegetables and chickens. The lots along Louis are fairly deep, and most of the small older homes have been replaced by fairly large newer homes.

The area to the southeast of Embarcadero and to the southwest of Louis is comprised of mostly newer homes. Originally many of these homes were single story ranch style homes that were both larger and newer than many of Palo Alto's housing developments. Many of the homes have been either expanded or replaced with large new homes. Palo Alto's Christmas Tree Lane is on one of the streets in this area which intersect Embarcadero.
