Redwood Shores has the ambiance of a luxury resort. Constructed on land built up in the marshes of San Francisco Bay, many of the homes have access to inner waterways and private boat docks. In 2009 Forbes magazine placed Redwood Shores at the top of “Americas Top Selling Luxury Neighborhoods”. Although Redwood Shores is within the city limits of Redwood City, it is impossible to drive to the rest of Redwood City without exiting the city limits.

Redwood Shores is often the setting for college rowing races. It is the home of Bay Club Redwood Shores.
