In 2015 at the annual Keller Williams award ceremony, I was recognized as their top producing individual agent in the whole United States. I am very thrilled and grateful to many people! This was the third consecutive year that I was ranked as one of the top 3 individual agents nationwide. I love being recognized as the number 1 top real estate agent nationwide by Keller Williams, the largest residential real estate franchise in the United States. Achieving "Juliana Lee, number 1 top real estate agent nationwide at Keller Williams" is very meaningful to both myself and to my team.
Top producing means the value of the real estate I sold or bought for my clients totaled more than any other individual agent. This was not achieved through the sale of an extraordinarily high priced property but through the consistent sale of numerous Silicon Valley homes.
Individual agent is actually not as simple as you would first assume. At this level of performance an agent is not their own secretary, is not putting their own signs in the front lawn of houses, they are not the first to answer EVERY phone call. Of course these and many more actions are often performed by assistants working for the individual agent. Some of the tasks performed by assistants require that the assistant be a licensed real estate agent.

Right after achieving the number 1 individual agent nationwide ranking, Keller Williams being the awesome real estate brokerage they are, both bribed and pushed me to no longer be an individual agent. I and my assistants are now considered a team and are ranked against other Keller Williams teams when determining a rank. Has anything changed with the way I work for my clients? Actually Keller Williams is providing more assistance for me to do more for my clients, and for me to grow my team! Other than more support from Keller Williams there were no immediate changes.
I and my three very experienced buyer agents are a small sales team compared to the top "teams at Keller Williams" (remember, Keller Williams is the largest real estate franchise in the U.S.A.). I have other specialists on my team who support sales activities including marketing, accounting, documentation, and more, but the number of buyer specialists working directly with clients is still small. I am still the only agent on my team who meets home sellers and creates (with the help of my specialists, of which some are licensed real estate agents) a custom plan to sell my client's home and meet their goals.
Keller Williams is always making changes to provide incentives and support for agents to grow their own business beyond being an agent, beyond being a team, and even beyond being a market center. I don't know what future categories I will be competing in, or which categories will even exist. Keller Williams is a company which pushes their agents forward.

Every real estate franchise has their own definitions. A small brokerage can call themselves whatever they want to. Is it a company, is it a team, or is it an individual? They can present themselves as they wish, no matter how many licensed real estate agents are working together.
