During the 1950s and 1960s Fremont became quite industrialized, attracting many companies including the General Motors Fremont Assembly plant in 1961. Production at the plant began in 1962 and continued until 1982. Portions of the plant were demolished but it was reopened as a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota (New United Motor Manufactureing, Inc – NUMMI) which operated from 1984 until 2010. In 2010 the plant reopened as the Tesla Factory, 100% owned by Tesla Motors.
High-tech employment boomed in the 1980s through the late 1990s. The Apple factory where the first Mac computer was manufactured was located in Fremont.
Fremont is the fourth largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area by population.

Home prices in Fremont behave differently than similar priced areas on the SF Peninsula. An area on the peninsula having an average home price of $800K or less, typically just recovered from the economic downturn to in 2015, reach roughly the same level it had in the peak of 2007. Fremont prices have solidly surpassed the 2007 peak.
Although Fremont is a large city with a large number of sales, averages show a lot of variation in how much the sales price has been over list price. Not shown here but available in the link below is that the number of sales has been increasing.
