Foster City Real Estate

Foster City is a planned city built in the 1960s. The city is built on engineered landfill. Much of the land was owned by T. Jack Foster, a real estate magnate who was a key person in the initial design of the city. Foster City is regularly rated as a top place to live by magazines such as Forbes (2009) and Money (multiple times). The homes have been arranged along man made lagoons to maximize the number of waterfront homes.

Foster City currently has a levee improvement project with associated taxes.

Demand for Foster City homes has been very high, especially in 2014 and 2015. Typically 80% of the homes are selling 8% over asking price.

There are no high schools located east of 101 in Foster City. Students attend one of the San Mateo Union High School District high schools. Each of the high schools has attendance boundaries extending into the Foster City area.
