Palo Alto is home to the headquarters of a number of high-technology companies: Hewlett-Packard, VMware, Tesla Motors, PARC, Ning, IDEO, Skype, Palantir Technologies, etc. It has also been where many other companies were located early in their life: Apple, Google, Facebook, Logitech, Intuit, Sun Microsystems, Pinterest, and PayPal. Palo Alto's strong association with the creation of high-tech companies and Stanford University attracts people wanting to either create their own company or to help build a new company.
