Town of Los Gatos, CA
Los Gatos is one of Santa Clara County's oldest communities. The Town first developed far away from other population centers and was an independent community having residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The railroad played a significant role in the growth and development of the Town. Easy access by rail from San Francisco made Los Gatos an early tourist destination.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries the Los Gatos economy was dominated by wheat farming, milling, logging, orchard and cannery businesses. Today the Town of Los Gatos is primarily suburban, high tech, and tourist oriented.
