The homes would be built on lots between 3,375 and 4,000 sq.ft. in size and would feature double car garages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project site is west of the Union Pacific Railroad track, across a street from some of the Cargill-owned salt ponds. The plans have just started being reviewed by the city&#8217;s community development staff. The project will require that the zoning of the land be changed. The site has already been filled so that it lies above the FEMA floodplain and does not contain any wetlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"983\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg?resize=1024%2C983\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1106\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg?resize=1024%2C983 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg?resize=300%2C288 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg?resize=768%2C737 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/julianalee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/pick-n-pull.jpg?w=1346 1346w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Just south of the proposed site is a 430 acre mostly undeveloped mix of seasonal wetlands, marshes, and agricultural areas. In 2019 a project by Sobrato to build 469 single-family homes on 80 acres of that area was approved by the City Council. Environmentalist groups brought lawsuits stopping the project. The decision was appealed and the judge ruled in favor of the developer and the city in December 2020.
